It is a blood-pressure drug used off-label for hair. The side effects are body-wide, not just a scalp itch.
Shedding in the first months, which scares people into quitting during the phase they were warned about. Extra hair on the face or arms, more often a complaint from women. Ankles that swell. A heartbeat you can feel. Dizziness when you stand up.
These are common enough to hear before the bottle, not after. The dose is the clinician's. Do not split a relative's blood-pressure tablet and call it a hair plan.
Anyone already on blood-pressure medicine, anyone with heart disease, anyone pregnant or trying. Bring the actual medication list. A little white pill is not a list.
Photos in the same light keep you from judging a bad mirror day. Unwanted hair or a pulse that keeps you up is a reason to write in, not a reason to add topical minoxidil on top without asking.
