Bioidentical Thyroid

The gland mostly releases T4, which the body converts to T3, the more active hormone. Levothyroxine is T4. Liothyronine is T3. Desiccated thyroid contains both, from animal gland, in a ratio that is not identical to every human's. Prescribed T4/T3 combinations let a clinician set a ratio, with the variability that pharmacy preparation can carry.

Bioidentical is a fair word for T4 and T3 that match human hormones. It is not a reason to abandon TSH. Feeling 'more natural' does not prevent being over-replaced.

People whose TSH looks acceptable and who still have the original symptoms, after absorption issues and other diagnoses were actually checked. That sequence matters. Switching products before you stop taking the pill with coffee is theater.

A subset feels more like themselves with some T3 on board. A subset gets shaky, hot, and sleepless. The trial should be explicit, with a recheck, and with permission to go back.

Excess T3 can drive palpitations and bone and heart risk over time. More is not a wellness strategy. Doses get changed on labs and symptoms, weeks apart.

If a previous clinic sold you a high dose because a symptom list said so, bring the bottle. The first move may be to reduce it. That will feel like bad news. It is sometimes the care.

A real trial has a starting point, a change you can name, a recheck date, and an exit. You know what better should feel like, you know what too much feels like — hot, shaky, sleepless — and you have permission to go back to what worked. That is medicine, not a subscription.

It also has an honest floor: if your levels are already good and the symptom is really sleep, iron, or mood, adding T3 will not fix it and may leave you wired instead of well. Naming that before the trial saves months.
